INFORMATION NOTE ON THE SITUATION OF OMER FARUK GERGERLIOGLU

Omer Faruk Gergerlioğlu a prominent human rights delender and member of the Turkish Paniament, has been sentenced to 2 years and 5 months of prison. 

The Parlament decided to stop of his seat on March 18 2021 and he currently remains Inside the Parliament building protesting against this onlantul decision and situation, while police forces are waiting outside to arrest him.

The attempt to silence his voice initiated with a criminal investigation for the crimes of membership in and organization and making propaganda forest organization based on Facebook and Twitter posts. advocating for peace in 2015 (consideme by th Judicury as terrorist propaganda).

Legal attack on HDP (Peoples Democratic Party)

In addition to the removal of Omer Faruk Gergenioglu from his parlamentary seat, authorities launched is legal case aimed at banning the HDP Omer Faruk Gergerlioğlu arty. This action takes place in a content of years of harassment, including physical attacks on the HDP. Such a banning would constitute i direct threat to political pluralism, rule of law and democracy in the Turkish society.
